Categories To Be Presented During ‘The 49th Annual Daytime Emmys Awards’ and Creative Arts & Lifestyle Ceremony

When nominations were announced last month for “The 49th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards,” The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) and CBS had not revealed which categories would be presented during the Friday, June 24 broadcast and which categories would be presented during the Creative Arts & Lifestyle Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony taking place on Saturday, June 18, instead indicating that the final determination of categories being presented on either night would be shared at a later date. That has since changed.

Soap Opera Network has learned that the two-hour CBS telecast that’ll also be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+ will include the presentation of 15 Daytime Emmy Awards, including the five drama performer categories, Drama Series, Drama Series Writing, Drama Series Directing , Game Show, Game Show Host, Informative Talk Show, Entertainment Talk Show, Informative Talk Show Host, Entertainment Talk Show Host, and the Lifetime Achievement Award which will be presented to “Days of our Lives” icon John Aniston who portrays Victor Kiriakis on the series.

Streaming live at 9:00 pm ET/6:00 pm PT on Saturday, June 18 at watch.TheEmmys.tv and via The Emmys apps for iOS, tvOS, Android, FireTV, and Roku, the Creative Arts & Lifestyle Daytime Emmy Awards The ceremony will present the remaining 34 awards, including Culinary Series, Culinary Host, Lifestyle Program, Guest Performance in a Daytime Drama Series, Short Form Daytime Program, Daytime Special, Entertainment News Series, Multiple Camera Editing, Hairstyling, Makeup, Casting and Original Song , among many others. Also, look for the PBS series “This Old House” to be honored with its own Lifetime Achievement Award.

In total, 49 Daytime Emmy Awards will be handed out this year, including the aforementioned Lifetime Achievement Awards for John Aniston and “This Old House.” “The Young and the Restless” and “General Hospital” leads all daytime shows with 18 and 17 nominations, respectively. “Days of our Lives” has 12 nominations and “The Bold and the Beautiful” has eight. “Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem” snagged four nominations, including in the categories of Drama Series, Writing and Directing.

“The 49th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” will be produced by NATAS and American Television International, and marks the sixth time ATI has produced the awards show. In 2009, ATI produced the telecast which aired on The CW and produced the telecast in 2010, 2011, 2020 and 2021 for CBS. This will mark the third consecutive year in which CBS will air the awards show, and the second of a two-year deal signed last year in which the network will carry the awards show.

Since 1974, The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has been honoring a variety of categories, including daytime dramas, talk shows, instructional programming, hosting, and legal/courtroom programs.In 2021, NATAS and the Television Academy jointly announced plans to realign the Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards to be organized by content genre, as opposed to program airtime. In addition, in recognition of the marked increase in content and entries for children’s programming, 2022 will mark the first annual Children’s & Family Emmy Awards, with relevant categories separating from the Daytime Emmys into their own competition and ceremony. All awards are judged by a pool of peer professionals from across the television industry.
